11 Games with Great Character Customization

With the latest character customization options, you can put yourself (or anyone else) into a game. There are lots of great games with customization, some with more than you would even think of being an option. These titles are just some of the many amazing options you have when it comes to building a unique, original character all your own.

Elden Ring

A benefit of your character creation in Elden Ring is that if you have a feature you decided against but now can’t get out of your mind, you aren’t stuck without it. After you play the main story for a while, players are given the option to respec their Elden Ring character. When creating your character in the beginning, not only do players select the basics like body type, class, age, and such, but it even goes so far as to allow players to choose their character’s voice, skin features, tattoos, marks, eyepatched, even so detailed as to allow for changes to the eyelashes. There are so many combinations available and the menu is very easy to navigate.

Cyberpunk 2077

Upon release, Cyberpunk 2077 had quite a few bugs and glitches that were disappointing to the players who had waited so long to play this title. But, all the issues aside, one thing the game does well is let you create a truly cool character. There are enough character customization options to spend quite a while peeking at all your options. With all of the inhuman abilities you can use to build up your character to the actual physical attributes you can give them to look totally unique will leave you beyond ready to tackle everything Midnight City throws at you.

Fallout 4

One title that was quickly noted as one to go down as a classic is Fallout 4. Objectively, it has the best-looking graphics and character creation from any Bethesda game to date. You not only get to make a fairly hyper-realistic character, but you can go as creative with it as you want. While there are lots of starting concepts to choose from there is also a solid face-sculpting aspect that is well-implemented and lets the most detailed of players go to town. The customization in Fallout 4 is great and undoubtedly holds up today, so what are you waiting for? Go make that wastelander!

Greed Fall

One of the most underrated indie RPG’s out there is Greedfall. It practically exclaims elegance in all of its visuals, and yes that extends to its character customization tool. While the options for manipulating your character’s facial structure are fairly limited, the UI and overall layout of each section are well-organized. Even with limited editing ability, a very unique character design is still possible. This really helps the player immerse themselves in a world that they are not too familiar with.

Dragon Age Inquisition

Dragon Age: Inquisition is another game that offers face-sculpting. Pick from four races: Humans, Elves, Dwarves, and Qunari. Players are allowed to put as much effort as they want into making that unique character. You can go crazy with it and see how bizarre you can make your character or simply create your perfect version of an elf. This is another game that can have you lost for hours just making your character.

Monster Hunter: World

Imagine forgoing some seriously incredible-looking helmets in order to show off a perfectly sculpted face. With the amazing features in Monster Hunter: World’s character customization, you might be doing just that. In arguably one of the best and most detailed character creation systems to date, Monster Hunter: World gives you so many options when it comes to designing your hunter. This creation doesn’t only apply to your player character though, you get the chance to design your NPC followers. Your follower is an awesome little cat dude called a Palico and you have a trusty steed in your Palamute, and designing those fluffballs is almost even more fun than designing your own character. Remember this character and your companion are going to be taking down some of the most ferocious creatures you’ve ever faced in gaming, so get to creating, and protect that face!

Demon’s Souls Remake

The graphics in the remake of Demon’s Souls put on a textbook showcase of the PS5’s graphical power, and it especially shows this off in its character creation. Players will notice an in-depth character creation process that has the graphics to produce some great-looking character models. The decals are a fun way to add an extra accent to any character and they offer many options. While it may be hard keeping that helmet off in order to pad your stats for the difficulty that is Demons Souls, you might consider it if you spend as much time as we did in the character creation menu.

Baulder’s Gate III

This D&D-based RPG has a character customization builder almost as big as the options available in all of the beloved tabletop’s guides. Baldur’s Gate III is a game all about freedom of choice and the character design reflects that. Among the option to choose from a variety of hairstyles, horns, skin colors, tails, and more, it also features many D&D races, subraces, backgrounds, and classes allowing you to customize your player on a deeper level.

XCOM 2

Taking customization the extra mile is XCOM 2. Not only do you get to enjoy creating your perfect vision of a person, but also of their uniform and weapons. There are many options for accent colors, combining them with the main colors however you like, making it easy to make your own theme for your character and their loadout. There have been some pretty amazing character creations floating around the internet since the game’s release and these are only made possible by the incredible options you have in the game.

Saint’s Row Reboot

One of the things fans loved about the original Saint’s Row is the character customization. When the reboot came out many wondered if it would still have the same in-depth options it initially had, and it didn’t disappoint. The more comical customizations that were newly made available include groin size and censor bar emojis. Yet, on the more inclusive and serious side of things, characters could also now have prosthetics, skin conditions, and other new features.

The Sims 4

How could you possibly imagine creating a character without thinking about The Sims 4? The base game alone has an incredible amount of character customization as you’d expect from a game that’s meant for you to create an entire person’s life. But when you consider all the DLC add-on options as well, you can make some pretty incredible characters. The Sims 4 has the most options available compared to previous games by far, going even so far as being able to adjust how far out or in individual facial features go. Players could easily spend hours per character and even create an entire household.
