Darth Vader Fortnite Battle Pass Chapter 3 Season 3

Darth Vader’s Pickaxe in Fortnite is Incredibly Disappointing

Darth Vader has finally come to Fortnite with the launch of Chapter 3 Season 3, but many fans have found Vader’s pickaxe to be very disappointing. When you think of a famous Star Wars character like Darth Vader, you’d expect his harvesting tool to be a red lightsaber. That’s surprisingly not the case though, as Darth Vader’s Sigil of the Empire harvesting tool is just the Empire’s logo on a stick.

No other Star Wars character in Fortnite has a lightsaber as their harvesting tool, however, and for good reason. Lightsabers are already in Fortnite as Mythic-rarity weapons that are periodically unvaulted for Star Wars collaborations, so having them available as pickaxes could create some confusion and cause players to think that their enemies had a Lightsaber weapon equipped.

While there has been some fan outcry regarding Darth Vader’s pickaxe in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3, the same thing happened just a few weeks ago with Obi-Wan’s harvesting tool. Obi-Wan Kenobi got a special bundle in the Item Shop to commemorate the release of the new Disney Plus series, and his harvesting tool was just a basic knife that he retrieved from his backpack. His lightsaber is also attached to the very same backpack, adding insult to injury for diehard Star Wars fans.

The lack of lightsaber harvesting tools for Star Wars characters is just an unfortunate side effect of Fortnite’s massive popularity. The game has so many crossover items added each season that some potential pickaxe concepts have undoubtedly ended up as Mythic-rarity items. That’s why you won’t see Darth Vader, Obi-Wan, Rey, or any other Star Wars characters with a lightsaber harvesting tool in the Item Shop or Battle Pass. At least Lightsabers have been unvaulted, so you can still live out your Dark Side fantasies in Chapter 3 Season 3.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 is a huge tonal shift from the war-themed Resistance season that just ended, and there’s plenty of new stuff for Fortnite fans to look forward to. Alongside new weapons, items, and map changes, Indiana Jones has also been added to the game as this season’s secret skin. He won’t be released until later this season, however, so you can focus on completing quests and exploring the new map in the meantime. The season is slated to end sometime in September, so there’s more than enough time to see and do everything that Chapter 3 Season 3 has to offer.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.
