While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare features a solid campaign mode, most fans are picking it up on day one for the multiplayer. And they should, it’s expansive and full of things to do with your friends. Of course, that’s the key though right? You want to play with your friends. And with all the changes you might be wondering how to play online multiplayer with friends in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Here’s a rundown.
How to Play Online Multiplayer with Friends
To play online multiplayer with friends you first have to head into the Social Menu featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. This is found in the top right of the screen and should be Triangle on PS4 or Y on Xbox One. Once there you’ll find your typical friends list, showing anyone you’ve added to the platform you’re playing on. Scroll to them and select them to either invite to your party or join theirs. From there you just start whatever game mode you want and they’ll tag along for the ride. Of course, COD: MW also features crossplay (see how to use it here) which adds a few options and complexities to the situation.
If you’re wanting to play with someone on another platform you simply need to be friends with them through their Activision or Call of Duty account. You can link your current platform of choice and create an account of your own right here. Once that’s done you just need to add their account as a friend and they will show up just like your other friends, only in a special section marked for Activision accounts. Follow the same steps of highlighting and choosing them then joining or inviting them and you’ll be good to go.
And that’s how to play online multiplayer with friends in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
