Can You Play V Rising With A Controller?

Recommended Videos

If you’re loving your time with V Rising, you may find yourself for hours, slumped over your keyboard and mouse, wishing you could kick back and enjoy it a bit more than you already are. Comfort is king in today’s day and age, and you’ll also find that in the game, you’ll want to be as comfortable as possible. Building a castle and trying to become the greatest vampire in the land is hard work, after all.

That’s why we are here today to answer the question, can you play V Rising with a controller, and if so, how do you do it? Let’s sink our fangs into this one, and hopefully, the answer won’t leave you screaming for more.

Conquer Your Controls in V Rising

While there are many different survival/crafting games on the market, V Rising does have quite a few different actions that you’ll be able to use on your keyboard and mouse combination. While you can, technically, connect a controller to your PC and play the game, you’ll find that this is not the best way to play.

Since there are so many different commands available, you wouldn’t be able to do everything the game has to offer with a controller. And while the Steam Page for V Rising does list that there is no controller support, you would be able to limp your way through the game while using one, even though it’s not the suggested way to play.

According to Stunlock Studios;

“We are not planning on designing the game with a controller or gamepad in mind for the time being. We are developing V Rising to be best enjoyed with a keyboard and mouse while making sure that it is easy enough for everyone to learn the controls.

During our tests, players who mostly enjoy games with a controller/gamepad learned the controls on the keyboard and mouse without issue during their first V Rising experience.

Furthermore, you will be able to bind keys to the different commands to make it even easier for you to play V Rising exactly as you want, giving you all the freedom you need to enact all your dark desires.”

Since the lack of buttons can hinder the progress that you can make in the game, it is strongly recommended not to use a controller while playing V Rising, if you’re hoping to experience everything that the title has to offer.

While there may be an update in the future to allow players to use a controller natively, if you are still deadset on using a controller, you may be able to combine some key inputs with your controller to make up for the lack of buttons. While it may make things like movement feel a little better, the issues you would run into outweigh any sort of convenience that it could offer.

V Rising is available now, in early access, on Microsoft Windows.
