Death Stranding: How to Avoid MULE Scanner Detection, How to Escape

Sometimes enemies will send out a scan that will track you or your packages.  Once they’ve located you they’ll be on the hunt and it will be hard to avoid combat.  If you need to avoid MULE or other enemy scanners you can do that with this hidden trick.

Ping your enemies back when they ping you

Simply use your scanner at the exact same time that the enemy is pinging you and you cancel out their ping.  Use your Oradeck by pressing the R1 Button and you will send out a ping.  If you do this at exactly the same time as the enemy you will cancel it out and they will not be the wiser.

If that doesn’t work you’ll need to stay out of sight

If this doesn’t work, you’ll actually need to avoid these enemies at this point or you will be forced into combat.  You can hide in tall grass or behind larger objects, but there are some things to keep in mind.  First, if you are crouching while moving it will be easier to avoid detection all together.  If you hold your breath you will be even harder to find.

If you’re still being spotted and you’re hiding you may want to take a look at the height of your cargo stack.  If your cargo is too tall you might not be able to hide in tall grass.  If you need to rearrange your cargo head into the cargo menu and press the Triangle Button to optimize your cargo or you can manually offload items to make your profile smaller.

If all else fails, you’ll need to fight.  That, or you could always run away.
