The cow level is just what it sounds like, a weird alternate dimension where you are swarmed by cows wielding halberds. For some, this is probably the stuff of nightmares, for others though, it’s one of the most hilarious levels ever to be conceived. Here’s how to find the secret cow level in Diablo 2: Resurrected.
How To Find the Secret Cow Level
Before you can access the secret cow level, you have to fulfill a few different requirements. The requirements are actually pretty weird so here is the step-by-step on how to complete them.
- Beat Baal on your current difficulty
- Combine Tome of Town Portal with Wirt’s Leg in the Horadic Cube while in the Rogue Encampment.
The Baal fight happens in Act V, so the completion of this fight must be completed in order for the other steps to matter at all. In order to get A Tome of Town’s Portal, simply travel to any town to acquire it. In addition to that, you can also find it in several areas like Jail or Catacombs.
Wirt’s Leg is acquired by going to Tristam. After you get there, go to the top left of the area and you’ll find the Corpse of Writ. Loot the leg and you’ll have Wirt’s Leg now. Yes, these requirements are truly odd and you likely would never have guessed to do these things on your own, but once completed, you create the portal to the secret cow level of yore.
Can You Return After you Beat It?
One of the caveats to accessing the secret cowl level in the original Diablo 2 is that once you defeated the boss of the secret cow level, the Cow King, it would lock you as well as anyone else in the party out of creating the portal again on that particular difficulty level.
The secret cow level is accessible on Normal, Nightmare, and Hell modes, but luckily in Diablo 2: Resurrected, the level is forever accessible now.
