One of the toughest things to do in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 come very early in the game. Here’s how to beat the Great Ape versions of Nappa and Vegeta.
Firstly, ignore the game’s advice to grab onto their tails because this method is useless from my experience. It’s too time consuming and does little damage.
Anyway, first use the targeting system to fight off Nappa first. You want to fly at a good distance away from him and then spam Ki blasts at him to destroy his shield (purple bar). You want to hold down the Ki blast button (circle on PS4 or B on Xbox One) for a few seconds and this makes a better shot.
Once Nappa is stunned, you want to fly up and punch him like crazy. Use your special attacks or just spam your normal kicks and punches. Once you see his purple bar replenish, fly away from him and repeat the process.
You also want to avoid him throwing rocks and waving his hands around. Just keep your distance and use the Ki blasts to stun him. Keep repeating this and you will eventually KO him.
When it’s Vegeta’s turn, you want to do the same method. Hold down the Ki button for a few seconds to fire off multiple blasts at once. When he’s stunned, punch him in the face to do great damage and fly away when he’s about to recover.
Unlike Nappa though, Vegeta has stronger attacks. Avoid him throwing rocks as well, but his laser blast is deadlier. He shoots a laser from his mouth that you need to avoid. I advise you to fly up really high so he cannot reach you.
It’s also worth mentioning you should equip an energy pellet to replenish health. You have to do this mission with one health bar in the story mode. Just press the start button when you are in Conton City and you want to customize your battle items to assign it. You want to also find the Item Shop in the city if you don’t have it yet.
Hopefully these tips are enough to help you beat the Great Ape versions of Nappa and Vegeta. The fights after this one are actually easier. It’s interesting they placed a hard fight so early in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
