You’re going to be finding a lot of junk in Fallout 76.  Just above everywhere you look you’ll see things that can be picked up and put in your inventory.  These items are all comprised of components that can be used for crafting, but you’re going to need to scrap them to reap the rewards.

Scrapping junk in Fallout 76 allows you to do two things.  1) It allows you to remove the good parts of the junk items that you’ve found.  2) It allows you to lighten your overall load.

You can scrap junk items in Fallout 76 at any crafting station or workbench.  Just approach the workbench or crafting station and access it.  From there you can scrap all of your junk items by pressing the Y/Triangle button.

So what does scrapping items do?  When you’re carrying around a lot of junk items in Fallout 76, you’re carrying capacity is much higher than when you’re carrying around scrap.  If you ever find yourself in a pinch and are over the carrying capacity but want to keep the components in your junk, you will need to scrap them to lighten your weight.  By scrapping items in Fallout 76 you can then use the components or store them in your stash box for later use when crafting at a station or building at your CAMP.
