A key element of your time with Fire Emblem: Three Houses will be recruiting other students to join your House. Yes, while you must make the all important decision of which House to pick early on in the game, all the students at Garreg Mach Monastery can be a bit more fluid as they go through their academic adventure. Of course, this means you can often fill your House with the characters you want, rather than the default assortment found in the beginning. While each student is unique we wanted to go over some general guidelines for how to recruit other students in Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
How to Recruit Other Students
As I said, each student at Garreg Mach Monastery is unique. How you will recruit them can be totally different from one to the other, but the method is pretty much the same at its core. I’ll also list off the specifics later on and we may break these down further, so check back for updates as we spend more time with the game. With that said, here’s a rundown of the methods used to recruit other students in Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
Basically you need to spend time with any particular student you want to recruit and get to know them. Each student at the Monastery has specific traits that they are looking for in their potential leader. Fulfill those traits while also ingratiating yourself with whomever you wish to recruit and you’ll be able to get anyone to join your House. Well, not anyone as some students, including all House Leaders are not recruitable due to story purposes. So if you went with the Blue Lion House don’t think you can get on Edelgard’s good side and bring her over to your crew. You can’t, but you can grab some of the other students in the Black Eagle or Golden Deer.
As I said, to do this you’ll want to spend time with the particular student you wish to recruit. Invite them to tea, join them for choir practice, and always look for them and speak with them while exploring the Monastery. You should also be sure to return any Lost Items to them and give them Gifts they’ll enjoy. Talking to them will often give you an idea of what they are looking for, but you can also just choose the Recruit option in the dialogue tree to have the game explain it to you. Once you do this you’ll see which stats the specific student wants. To recruit them you’ll just need to raise those stats for yourself by choosing activities that build them up. Here’s a rundown of what some students are looking for…

This should give you plenty of options to choose from in terms of who to recruit to your House. Remember that you can’t recruit everyone, so try to pick a few and work toward them, rather than letting the opportunity pass you by. For the story and level related students just be sure to speak with them often and if things work out you’ll be able to recruit them eventually. If there is no Recruit option, then they cannot be recruited to your House for certain reasons, so you’ll want to look elsewhere. Overall though this explains how to recruit other students in Fire Emblem: Three Houses so good luck and let us know in the comments who you went with.
