The Hive boss in Gears of War 4 is the last major action sequence you will do in the game. Here’s a method that will enable you to beat him.
At this point of the game, you will be in the cool looking mechs. The Hive boss may look big and threatening, but he is easy to beat if you know what to do.
First of all he has four tentacles. You need to shoot the tentacles first in order to weaken each one of them. Concentrate on only one tentacle and then it should fall to the ground. You need to hurry up and approach it or else he will retract it and you have to shoot the tentacle again.
In order to approach the tentacle on the ground, you have to walk up to it from either the LEFT or RIGHT and then press “Y”. Don’t approach from the front because nothing will happen.
If you press Y successfully, you will staple the tentacle on the ground and the Hive Boss will lose it. There is then a weak spot left behind. You can press the LB button and call for an aerial strike to get the weak spot.
You have to repeat this process four times. Do it for each tentacle and a cutscene will ensue. After the cutscene is over, you want to approach the helicopter and grab the propellers.
With the propellers, you want to walk towards the Hive Boss. The first time you do it, you stab him but then he pushes you away. Just walk up to him and you should see a button prompt the second time you walk up to him. After that, it should be the end of the fight!
