Guardians of the Galaxy: Speak Into Helmet or Put It Down?

Recommended Videos

When the team returns to Hala’s Hope in Chapter 5 of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, they find that the Nova Corps is nowhere to be found. The group still needs to pay their fine though, so they search the seemingly abandoned station in search of Kor-El. Eventually, Star-Lord finds a Nova Corps helmet and puts it on only to hear radio chatter coming in. The game then gives you the choice to respond or not. So, should you speak into the helmet or put it down in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy?

Should You Speak Into the Helmet or Put It Down in Guardians of the Galaxy?

If you choose to put the helmet down, then Star-Lord won’t say anything. The Guardians will agree that this was the smarter choice, and you’ll avoid a fight. You’ll be able to leave the room peacefully and avoid an optional combat encounter.

If you choose to speak into the helmet, then Star-Lord will tell the Nova Corps that the Guardians are there looking for Kor-El. He gives them the team’s location and Nova Corps guards quickly enter the room. The Guardians don’t think speaking into the helmet was a good call, and they’re right.  The Nova Corps guards don’t seem normal, and they’ll ask you a few questions. You can either choose to Retreat or mention Ko-Rel, but either way, you end up in combat.

The helmet decision doesn’t have any lasting consequences, so all it affects is the next combat encounter. You’re going to have to fight your way back to the Milano regardless, but choosing to put the helmet down will skip this optional combat encounter.

If you want to avoid combat, then choosing to put the helmet down is the best choice here. If you’re itching for a fight or just want to maximize your XP gains, then choosing to speak into the helmet is a better choice since you get to fight more enemies.  Again, this doesn’t have any effects down the line, so don’t worry about it too much. A notification will pop up letting you know how the Guardians feel about your decision, but their opinion won’t be permanently swayed one way or the other after this encounter so it’s not a huge deal.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has plenty of choices to make, and some are more important than others. You won’t get a different ending by making certain decisions, but the path to the end can be surprisingly varied if you say the right things and make the right choices. Some choices can lead to different gameplay sections or let you skip certain fights, while others can grant you access to special items in later chapters.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
