How to Fast Travel in God of War Ragnarok

God of War Ragnarok is a massive open-world game with multiple fully fleshed-out realms to explore, so fast travel is going to be your best friend as you traverse the nine realms completing Favors, completing Treasure Maps, and upgrading your gear. Just like in the last game, there are some restrictions on fast travel in God of War Ragnarok. Thankfully, the game opens up much more quickly than its predecessor and you’ll be able to zip around the nine realms with ease just a few hours into the game. Here’s how to unlock and use fast travel in God of War Ragnarok.

How to Fast Travel in God of War Ragnarok

Fast travel in God of War Ragnarok is accomplished through Mystic Gateways, stone archways that let you walk across the branches of the Yggdrasil to different realms. In addition to traveling between the nine realms, you can also use Mystic Gateways to other Mystic Gateways in the same realm. These are essentially just fast travel points with a Norse coat of paint.

Mystic Gateways are marked on your map with a blue icon whenever you discover them. Unfortunately, you have to walk to a Mystic Gateway in order to fast travel. You can’t just open your map and teleport to one at will. You’ll also have to walk across the branches of the Yggdrasil as the game loads, which can get quite repetitive if you’re zipping back and forth in search of collectibles or side quests.

Unlike the original game, Mystic Gateways are available right from the start of God of War Ragnarok. As soon as Kratos and Atreus leave Midgard through the Mystic Gateway near their home, all Mystic Gateways are unlocked for use as soon as you come across them. That means you can jump back and forth between different realms at will to collect new gear and level up to prepare for upcoming threats.

God of War Ragnarok is available now on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
