An Ancient City is just one new area that you can find in the Minecraft Wild update. The hugely anticipated Minecraft 1.19 update is finally here and it brings a lot of fascinating new features. From new biomes to new creatures, the Wild Minecraft update is truly wild. Here is everything you need to know about how to find an Ancient City in Minecraft.

How to Find an Ancient City in Minecraft

Ancient Cities in Minecraft are found in the new Deep Dark biome. This is where the new aggressive mob called Wardens resides, so you’ll need to be extra careful when exploring down there. Wardens are extremely strong, but they are blind and only respond to sound, so bring a few projectiles like snowballs or arrows to distract a Warden if you see one.

In order to find a Deep Dark cave, you’ll need to explore below y level zero. We recommend that you find a series of existing caves that branch down further in order to find an Ancient City as they have been known to connect to existing caves.

The key that will lead you to an Ancient City is skulk blocks which are only found in Deep Dark caves. Once you have found a few skulk blocks or a skulk vein, follow it until you’ve reached a large room. If you’re having trouble, remember that Ancient Cities are rare, so just be patient because you will find one.

What is Inside an Ancient City in Minecraft

Finding an Ancient City is cool and all, but what kind of loot is inside an Ancient City that makes it so special? In an Ancient City, you’ll find ruinous structures, colorful wools, and lanterns scattered around. More importantly, there are chests hidden throughout the Ancient City that hold rare items like golden apples, enchantment books, disc fragments, name tags, and more. Let your imagination run wild as you discover an Ancient City in Minecraft and conjure up what happened to the people that once lived there.
