UPDATE: Deltarune Chapter 2 is now available on Nintendo Switch as a free update. The original story follows below.
Nintendo Switch players will be disappointed to hear Deltarune Chapter 2 is only currently available on Mac and PC. The game officially dropped on Friday, but it is unavailable on your Nintendo Switch as of writing. Deltarune and Undertale creator Toby Fox teased the release via a unique live stream on Thursday in which he told the world via voice-to-text that the new release would come before the end of the week.
However, that release does not yet include a Nintendo Switch edition of Deltarune Chapter 2. The wait isn’t too much of a surprise from Deltarune’s developer, who exclusively released the first chapter to Mac and PC before later branching out. We’re assuming at this point that a Switch edition will come. It’s just a question of when.
When is Deltarune Chapter 2 Coming to Switch?
The console ports for Switch and PlayStation came around three months after the initial release of Deltarune Chapter 1, so we can anticipate a similar three-month wait this time. There is currently no official word, but we might be playing the new chapter of Fox’s much-lauded follow-up this side of the new year with any luck.
Just keep in mind that it’s a small development team behind Deltarune who take great care in what they do, so there’s always a chance we might have to wait a little longer while they perfect the port. Until then, you’ll have to make do with another pacifist-run of Undertale or revisiting Deltarune Chapter 1 for a story recap. Check back on this story in the future for any official updates on when Deltarune Chapter 2 will release for Nintendo Switch.
