While The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake for Nintendo Switch might change a lot about the game, such as the visuals or the addition of a customizable dungeon, most other things remain the same. Which means that the puzzles and questions that troubled players in the past will trouble them once again. A few times while playing the game you’ll wonder how to get to the next area or dungeon. And few times will be as bad as just before entering Yarna Desert. Here’s how to get to the desert in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening for Switch.
How to Get to the Desert
Yarna Desert is found toward the southeast, just past Animal Village. Of course, nothing in Link’s Awakening is as easy as just walking there. No, you first need to find a secret passage and then make it past a particularly sleepy walrus. To find the secret passage all you need to do is head to Kanalet Castle, where you ran into the monkey and hopefully gave him some bananas. As you walk near here there will be a suspicious looking bush that seems to move. Chop it down to reveal some stairs you can take to the Animal Village. There’s a black crystal blocking your path. To break through them you need the Pegasus Boots found in the Key Cavern. If you haven’t gotten to that point in the game, just keep adventuring and come back later.
Once you make it beyond the crystal you will eventually run into a walrus that blocks your path. He wants to hear Marin sing the Ballad of the Wind Fish, but of course Marin has gone missing. We break down the next steps in your quest to get to the desert right here. Follow those to make it past the walrus and into Yarna Desert. This is where you’ll eventually find the next key you need on your journey. This one will get you into the Angler’s Tunnel.
But that’s how to get to the desert in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening for Switch.
