Life is Strange: True Colors: Tell Gabe or Keep Ethan’s Secret?

Recommended Videos

One of the earliest decisions you have to make in Life is Strange: True Colors is to either tell Gabe or keep Ethan’s secret. While Alex had some alone time with Ethan, he told her that he plans to head down to the mines that night and do some exploring. He insists that he’ll be fine, but Alex is clearly worried. Once Gabe returns, it’s up to you to decide what to do. This choice will have consequences down the line, so should you tell Gabe or keep Ethan’s secret?

Tell Gabe or Keep Ethan’s Secret?

The best thing to do here is to tell Gabe. It’s the right thing to do, and he’ll appreciate your honesty. He’ll call Charlotte to let her know, and your relationship with both Gabe and Charlotte will improve.

If you keep Ethan’s secret, there won’t be any immediate consequences. Alex and Gabe just continue to go about their business and Ethan goes off to prepare. No matter what you choose, this choice will have consequences at the end of the chapter.

At the end of Chapter 1, Ethan goes to the mines anyway. Even if you told Gabe and got Ethan in trouble, he’ll still end up going. This obviously upsets Gabe and Charlotte, and they’ll get upset with you if you kept Ethan’s secret from them. If you told Gabe, then he’ll still be really worried, but he’ll still thank you for being honest.

This is one of the first major choices in Chapter 1 of Life is Strange: True Colors, but it doesn’t affect much at all. Ethan will always end up going to the mines regardless of what you say, and this choice doesn’t affect anything in later chapters. Really, nothing in Chapter 1 has huge ramifications for the rest of the game, so just take your time getting to know the citizens of Haven Springs and enjoy yourself for now. Don’t worry, things will ramp up after the introduction.

Life is Strange: True Colors is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. A Nintendo Switch version of the game is coming at a later date.
