Soon after receiving the Spin Boost, you may be stuck as to where to head next in Metroid Dread. Metroid Dread isn’t going to open any new areas for you yet, so you’re going to have to spend a little while exploring. In this guide, you’ll see how to step through that process and hit exactly where you need to be in just a few minutes.
What to Do After Getting the Spin Boost in Metroid Dread
Head outside to battle a Chozo Soldier
Right after receiving the Spin Boost, head to the top right corner of your room and take the Morph Ball launcher. This will deposit you in the water-logged area from before, but having the Spin Boost will now allow you to cross the gap and latch onto the other side. From there, climb up the wall into the thin, Morph Ball-accessible tunnel leading far to the right.
From there, you’ll be able to make your way up a platform challenge featuring the retracting fleshy petals, beyond which will be a room dropping down into a slide. Take this slide and defeat the Chozo Soldier in the room below.
Use the Spin Boost to cross a watery gap next to the E.M.M.I. zone
After beating the Chozo Soldier, save in the room to your left and head back out into the wide-open, flesh-petal corridor in the room adjacent. You’ll want to climb back up this and head into the E.M.M.I. zone once more. This time, however, you’ll want to travel to the position marked on the map above. Previously, this was a dead-end, but the Spin Boost now allows you to cover the gap and reach a new area in the zone.
Destroy the Central Unit and kill the E.M.M.I.
Climb up the tower you just accessed by Spin Boosting through the water. At the top of the tower is a door leading back into the E.M.M.I. zone. Take this, and then immediately travel through the bottom pathway. This will lead you into a Central Unit fight. Defeating the Central Unit here is no more difficult than is typical, so finish it off in a few minutes and retrieve the Omega Blaster to fight the E.M.M.I. outside.
Once you’ve defeated the E.M.M.I., Samus will gain access to the Ice Missiles. These missiles give you the ability to freeze enemies and, pertinently, destroy the fleshy, flame-spewing Enky that previously blocked your way. Many areas of Ghavoran that were previously locked off by the Enky are now accessible, and if you want to explore them this would be the time.
Use Ice Missiles to reach a new Ferenia entrance
After receiving the Ice Missiles, head back to the tunnel you previously used to reach the Chozo Soldier after finding the Spin Boost. At the end of this tunnel is an Enky blocking the way of a Grapple Beam Box. Use your Ice Missiles to destroy the Enky and then pull the box aside. Beyond this box will be one more Enky that you can easily dispatch, and after doing so you’ll find yourself in a shuttle stop that heads to a new area of Ferenia. Take the shuttle and head on your way, as you’ve done all you can in Ghavoran at this time.
This guide should cover everything you need to get through Ghavoran after grabbing up the Spin Boost. If you need help on any other areas of the game, including how to make use of the next ability you’ll be looking for, you can find other guides for Metroid Dread by clicking here.
