Lampent has joined the roster of Raid Pokémon in this year’s Halloween Mischief event. The Ghost/Fire-type is a Tier 3 raid and is available from October 22 to October 31. That gives you just over a week to find and catch this Pokémon.
In this guide, we’ll cover the best weaknesses to hit Lampent with, the best individual counters, and what chances you have of getting a coveted shiny variation of the lamplight Pokemon.
Lampent Raid Weakness
Lampent is Ghost/Fire-type, which opens it up to powerful attacks from other Ghost types and Water, Dark, Ground and Rock moves. However, Lampent will also hit Ghost-types for 2x Super Effective damage, so think carefully before starting with your Gengar.
While Tier 5 raids almost always need some community support, if you’ve some powerful Pokemon of one of the above types, there’s a good chance you can take down Lampent solo if you prepare.
Best Counters for Lampent Raid in Pokémon GO
Mega Gyarados is by far and above the best call for taking on Lampent. Its Water/Flying-type has no weakness to Lampent’s moves, and the impressive attacking stat will quickly wipe the floor with the Raid boss.
Other good options are Dark-types like Mega Houndoom and Darkrai or strong Ground-types such as Groudon and Rhyperior. Mega Gengar and Chandelure are also good options if they’re high level as their bulk shout outweighs the Super Effective moves from Lampent.
Best Movesets to Counter Lampent
- Mega Gyarados – Hyrdo Pump / Waterfall
- Mega Houndoom – Snarl / Crunch
- Mega Gengar – Lick / Shadow Ball
- Darkrai – Snarl / Shadow Ball
- Groudon – Mud Shot / Earthquake
- Chandelure – Hex / Shadow Ball
- Rhyperior – Mud Slap / Rock Wrecker
Other potential possibilities include Kyogre, with its powerful Water moves or Ramparados, with its high offensive potential and potent Rock and Ground attack. Honchkrow is also a possibility, with the forthcoming mass distribution of Murkrow in this month’s next Spotlight Hour.
Can Lampent Be Shiny in Pokémon GO?
Unfortunately, the Tier 3 Raid Lampent is not and cannot be shiny. The decision not to include shiny Lampent is disappointing for fans of the Ghost/Fire-type trying to get a shiny Chandelure. Fortunately, there is still a chance to bag a shiny from this month’s Raid events, with Mega Absol making its in-game appearance as a Tier 5 Raid.
That’s the lowdown on getting your hands taking on the Tier 3 Lampent Raid this Halloween. Also, make sure to check out our dedicated page for all the up-to-date news and guides for Pokémon GO.
