When selecting the campaign, before you hit the “Start Game” button, hover over the difficulty button and select it, and press ‘Square/X’ to view a wide spectrum of ways to enhance your challenge in-game.  There are classic options like friendly fire in co-op, how much health you’ll have after reviving, and enemy AI options like aggression and perceptiveness.  You can also adjust features like whether Empty Lung slows downtime through the sniping options, or whether a reload throws away the mag, meaning that if there was still ammo left before the reload, it’s lost now.  This is a surprisingly deep set of options you can customize for the game, and throwing on as many challenges as possible is like a Halo LASO run.

Sniper Elite 5 is already by nature a fairly difficult game, requiring a healthy dose of stealth to prevent enemies from overwhelming you via strength in numbers, flanking, or simply outgunning you.  It requires tactical thinking and problem-solving, and adding such a great set of difficulty options further enhances play, and more importantly, replayability.  For the hardcore shooter fans, this could just be the challenge you’re looking for.
