Trophies are an even bigger element to Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS than previous entries in the series. With this comes a few options for how to earn trophies in-game via different modes. While we aren’t going to lay out exactly how to earn every single trophy, we will give a bunch of tips to follow in order to earn as many as possible, as fast as possible. Check out our tips below and if you see any that we missed be sure to let us know in the comments.
- Play through Classic and All-Star mode with every character
- This is really just the first basic step, every playable character has two trophies you earn through these modes
- Also, watch for trophies on the Classic mode map and near the portal in between All-Star mode matches
- Carry your 3Ds everywhere
- This will earn you play coins, which are important for the next tip
- Visit the Trophy Store often
- Here you can purchase trophies using either in-game gold or 3DS play coins. If you have a bunch stocked up you’ll get started on your trophy collection fast
- Watch out for special deals as well, many trophies will be offered for significant discounts
- The prices are pretty steep for a single trophy, but if it’s one you really need or you have extra gold/play coins then it’s a great way to complete your collection
- Check back often, the selection changes all the time
- Play a lot of Trophy Rush
- Go ahead and splurge and go for the full two and a half minutes
- Destroy everything you can and large coins will drop, destroy the ones with the trophy icon to earn one.
- I’ve found the best two fighters for this are Mega Man and Pikachu
- With Mega Man use his side smash attack and his down-B. Down-B will engulf him in leaves, which will destroy boxes. Hit B again to fire it across the map.
- With Pikachu it is all about his Down-B. Get under a pillar of boxes and bring down the lightning onto it. When trophies are raining down you can stand near the center spamming Down-B to get most of them.
- Finally, complete Challenges
- Some trophies are only earned via Challenges
