Warzone Season 6 Might Be the End For Verdansk

Call of Duty: Warzone has enjoyed one of the biggest battle royale fanbases in the world over the past year-plus, and part of the reason for that is its amazing map. Verdansk is hands down the best map a battle royale game has ever had, but despite that, as the game approaches entering its second year, things need to change in order to keep the game from getting stale. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War had things change up a bit with the arrival of Verdansk ’84, so now that we’re approaching the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard, just what’s in store for us with Call of Duty: Warzone this coming season?

The trailer for Season 6 of Warzone has been released and with it the preview of what looks to be the complete destruction of Verdansk. Now, given what we know of the storyline here with Verdansk, it was destroyed in the Cold War and then rebuilt only to be nuked again in 2019. By that measure, this would seem to be the Cold War destruction we’ve been told about, so if that is what is going down, where will the new map be taking place then?

Rumors have speculated that the new map might be taking place in Japan. The era of Japan that it might be is unconfirmed, but it’s very possible we get even more time travel happening for the new map this time around. From the images released, the aesthetic to this new map seems to be very jungle heavy which would be an intriguing new change for the game as Verdansk is almost purely an urban environment with some light foresty areas sprinkled in here and there. Jungle warfare in Warzone would be pretty intriguing as you’d likely have to utilize thermal optics a lot more than usual and things like drones and other spotting devices would become more crucial than ever as the thickness of the jungle would make finding enemies a lot more difficult than usual.

The other interesting possible addition here is the water that surrounds everything. Is it possible that boats will make an appearance as a vehicle with the new map? After all, the normal vehicles in Verdansk might not function as well in some of these jungle areas, so maybe we’ll be getting some new toys to play with in that regard as well. Season 6 of Warzone is set to drop on October 7th, so we will have our answers to these questions soon enough.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
