Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a long, long game. By the end of it, you’ll probably put over 100 hours into the experience. That means you shouldn’t really rush through things, as we explained in our Beginner’s Guide. Still, some players like to push through the main story, saving extra stuff for later on, when their character is a bit more powerful. To get more powerful, you’ll need to level up, and if you want to do it fast, you’ll want to follow the tips in this quick guide on how to level up fast in Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

I’m going to focus on the early parts of the game here, since later you can really just do side quests to gain XP. Early in the game though, you might hit more roadblocks as your characters take a while to get up to snuff to take on the beasts of Alrest. The basics are simple, you want to find some low level creatures and fight them over and over again, making sure you never die and lose the precious XP you have gained in the fight. Luckily, there’s a nice place to do this early in the game.

Deep in the wilds of the Gormott Province, which is the first real main area of the game, you can find a special place that’s full of passive creatures. These guys are ripe for XP farming, as they won’t attack you until you attack them, letting you fight when you want to, and back off when you don’t. It’s called Lyta Oasis, and here’s how to get there.

When leaving the main city in Gormott Province just head straight and left a bit. You’ll have to drop down quite a ways, as Lyta Oasis is much lower on the island. You can see it highlighted in the image above, if you still can’t find it.

Once there just pick a group of animals and take them out. Do this a few times then head back to town and sleep at the Inn to level up. It should only take a few trips back and forth to get your characters above where they otherwise would be at this point in the story.
