Quills were aplenty in the original Yooka-Laylee as the main collectible you would be finding throughout the different stages in the game. That is no different here in Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, but this time they are even more plentiful in the 2D setting. There is no set amount per stage, instead allowing you to keep collecting them to use in the game. You will need plenty of Quills for various reasons, so this guide will explain how you can get them quickly.
There are multiple uses for Quills in Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, including small costs like buying hints, along with the purchase of Tonics you collect and most importantly the opening of cages. These cages will often hold key pieces to advancing in the game, so you’ll have to make sure to have enough Quills to open them.
To get Quills quick, you may think it would be best to go to later levels to be able to get more, but really the best method of getting them fast is to return to the very first stage in the game Chapter 1 – Capital Causeway. Now only is this stage easy being the first, but there are a lot of Quills to be had here that you can acquire quickly without too much concern of dying over and over again.
This stage features a good amount of the colors large Quills that you can activate and follow to get more Quills. The green one of these in particular are the best at getting them quickly, with one good stretch in this first level. In only a few minutes, you can easily grab 300-400 Quills with no problem and you can keep doing this stage over and over to add to your collection when necessary.
Also make sure to turn off any active Tonics that would hurt your Quill total, as you really don’t need any extra help in this stage and you want to maximize the amount of Quills you can get if you can help it.
