Ever since DICE made it public domain that the console version of Battlefield 3 would have some scaling done to it with respect to its PC counterpart, console fans have been nervous about the upcoming shooter.
On PC, Battlefield 3 supports 64 player battles and larger maps to facilitate the extra players. Â Over on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Battlefield 3 will be supporting 24 players, which is standard fare for console multiplayer experiences. Â DICE producer Patrick Liu reassured console players that they aren’t getting less of a game with Battlefield 3 on consoles.
Liu said:
“It has the same amount of destruction and the same amount of visual fidelity. It’s also a misconception I’ve seen on the internet that the console version won’t have jets – that’s not true…Â We’ve scaled the maps accordingly for console so it makes the pacing all right and the balancing is good,” Liu added. “If you play a big Conquest map then the map is balanced accordingly.”
Anyone that has played any of DICE’s previous games on console can attest to the fact that the maps are huge. Â Far bigger than any other game on console, even ones that boast more players. It won’t be very long before you can hop online and verify for yourself, the Battlefield 3 beta is just days away.
