Ever since DICE made it public domain that the console version of Battlefield 3 would have some scaling done to it with respect to its PC counterpart, console fans have been nervous about the upcoming shooter.
On PC, Battlefield 3 supports 64 player battles and larger maps to facilitate the extra players. Over on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Battlefield 3 will be supporting 24 players, which is standard fare for console multiplayer experiences. DICE producer Patrick Liu reassured console players that they aren’t getting less of a game with Battlefield 3 on consoles.
“It has the same amount of destruction and the same amount of visual fidelity. It’s also a misconception I’ve seen on the internet that the console version won’t have jets – that’s not true… We’ve scaled the maps accordingly for console so it makes the pacing all right and the balancing is good,” Liu added. “If you play a big Conquest map then the map is balanced accordingly.”
Anyone that has played any of DICE’s previous games on console can attest to the fact that the maps are huge. Far bigger than any other game on console, even ones that boast more players. It won’t be very long before you can hop online and verify for yourself, the Battlefield 3 beta is just days away.
