Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ignis Launches December 13

Sony presented during the pre-show event at Paris Games Week the first in-depth look at the upcoming Episode Ignis expansion of Final Fantasy XV. The new DLC is set during the events of the main game’s chapter 9, and it follows Ignis and Lunafreya’s brother Ravus as they face Ardyn during a time Noctis is unconscious.

As it can be seen on the video, the expansion presents a more fast-paced battle gameplay than the main adventure, with Ignis being able to target multiple enemies at once with his own special skills. While not as revolutionary as the shooter mechanics of Episode Prompto, the DLC seems like it will give new and interesting details on an unseen side of the story, and for the first time, it will present multiple endings.

The new trailer also revealed the launch date of the new chapter, which is coming to PS4 and Xbox One on December 13. It’s worth remembering that all the DLC released this year including Episode Gladio, Prompto, and Ignis, as well as the upcoming Comrades multiplayer expansion, will be included in the upcoming Windows Edition for PC.

Sony also included some new footage of the spin-off Monster of the Deep as part of a sizzle trailer for PSVR.

Final Fantasy XV is out now for PS4 and Xbox One. Watch the new trailer for Episode Ignis below.
