Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 Week 6 Challenges

Fortnite x Spider-Man Collaboration Possibly Discovered via Datamine

It looks like a Fortnite x Spider-Man collaboration may be on the cards, according to a codenamed item in the games’ data. The next installation of Fortnite’s crossovers is tipped to be the Marvel favourite, but time will tell who swings into action.

At this point, pretty much the only superhero that isn’t already in Fortnite is the legendary lad, Spider-Man. It seems that the next collaboration may lean towards the web-slinging wonder! Allegedly, Epic is working on a new code with the name ‘WestSausage’. Fans have speculated that it could be a code for ‘Web Slinger’, and are running with the idea. The main reason behind the assumption that this is Spider-Man, is that the code allegedly has swinging mechanics. Really, who else could this be? The text includes things like ‘swing attach location’, ‘swing accelerate’ and ‘swing jump’. There don’t seem to be any conflicting theories, so it seems likely that Spidey will make a triumphant entry into the game.

Interestingly, this wouldn’t be Spider-Man’s first mention in the game – there is an achievement related to Season 4 called ‘Thwip!’. This is earned by immediately eliminating an opponent after hooking them with a Harpoon Gun, during the fourth season. The achievement comes with a Spider-Man logo as its’ emblem.

Fortnite-Carnage-Symbiote

Spider-Man as a character is not owned by Disney, and is still licensed by Sony. This could mean that the character would get different content to other sugar-coated Marvel heroes. For instance, Thanos came out as a mythic, not a skin – this is probably due to Disney not wanting their iconic characters to wield guns (despite being a universally feared villain). There is even the possibility that Spider-Man would be a limited-time release due to Sony’s licensing rules.

Players already know about the Venom skin coming out – this bodes well for the idea of Spider-Man. Venom: Let There Be Carnage recently released into cinemas, and Spider-Man: No Way Home is due to hit screens in mid-December this year. Most likely, Spider-Man will be a close to Christmas release into Fortnite to coincide with the holiday season.

Fortnite is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and mobile devices.
