Telltale Games continues teasing the details of their upcoming Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series release. First up we saw a hint at the possible main house, and have since had the release date confirmed for some time this year. Today they have released a new image, which can be seen above. Mentioning “flayed men” with the book excerpt, it seems to indicate the inclusion of House Bolton and the Ironborn.
There’s squids in the Wolfswood, and flayed men ride the Kingsroad.
The entire excerpt reads “There’s squids in the Wolfswood, and flayed men ride the Kingsroad.” The squids are referring to the Ironborn of House Greyjoy, men who come from the Iron Islands off the coast of Westeros. The “flayed men” is a reference to House Bolton, who uses the macabre scene as their house sigil. The passage comes from the third book in the series, A Storm of Swords, and is from a chapter that focuses on Bran Stark as he travels north toward the Wall.
Expanding the passage a little you see that this is specifically speaking about how safe the area was when “there was a Stark in Winterfell”. However, since the fall of the family and their home, all of the North is embroiled in war. This further cements the idea that Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series will take place in the North, alongside the events of the books and TV show. Other elements of the passage support the notion that the game will involve Stannis in some way, but I have already spoiled enough.
Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series will be out later this year along with Tales from the Borderlands. After those two have completed we should see The Walking Dead Season 3 begin releasing.
