David Jaffe has some big franchises under his belt with Twisted Metal and God of War, both attributed to his creative direction.  Inevitably, the developer will be working on a new title, and Jaffe might jump into the world of shooters for his next title. In a recent interview with IGN, Jaffe alludes to the possibility of his next game being a shooter.

” I love the genre,” Jaffe says.  “but I feel that it has been allowed to go a little –well, actually, quite a lot –stale when it comes to moment to moment mechanics.”   Jaffe recently walked away from a company he helped found at Eat Sleep Play following Twisted Metal’s release.  The announcement from Jaffe suggested that whatever his next project is, it could likely end up in the “casual” space.

In the recent interview, Jaffe does say he’s exploring a number of options for his next game, but doesn’t announce anything concrete.  “There is a gun in one of the games, and you hold it, ” Jaffe says.  All the things that I can sit here and passionately discuss and preach to you are absolutely things that I’m thinking about doing if it turns out the game we’re thinking about doing gets made next involves a gun and a person holding a gun.”

Jaffe says that he has boiled possible candidates for his next project from thirty to two, with at least one of those two being a shooter of some sort.
