The Gold Mario Amiibo has just officially went from rumor to definite release with a tweet from Walmart Canada that confirms the figure will be available in their store. No release date was given, though presumably it will hit around the time of Mario Party 10, which releases on March 10th. There was also no confirmation in regards to the previous rumor that stated the special figure would be a Walmart exclusive.

We are getting the gold Mario amiibo in stores but we don’t have a date yet.

A follow-up message from the account clarified that there would be no presale for the Gold Mario Amiibo, which is expected to be rare mostly due to the special coloring it is receiving. With the extreme rarity of other Amiibo figures, such as Marth, Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer, collectors have been understandably anxious for the release of the gold Mario. While many had hoped it would be given away as part of the annual Club Nintendo rewards, this seems to not be the case with recent revelations.

So far there has been no word about the other rumored figure, the Silver Mario Amiibo. If the gold one is indeed a Walmart exclusive, then it is likely that the silver one will be available in other stores, though it might follow suit and be exclusive to a different store.

Keep checking back for updates about the Gold and Silver Mario Amiibos as they get closer to their inevitable release.
