Rockstar has announced that there will definitely be no pre-release beta for Grand Theft Auto V on PS4, Xbox One, or PC. This announcement seems to be aimed at stopping a number of scams that have made their way across the internet over the last few days. Apparently these have gotten so bad that Rockstar felt the need to create a unique website to inform consumers. The site reads “Please note: There is no pre-release “Beta” test for Grand Theft Auto V. If you see ads or solicitations to join a beta program, beware as this is likely some type of online phishing scam.”
Please note: There is no pre-release “Beta” test for Grand Theft Auto V.
While this announcement is good in that it will help steer consumers away from malicious offers, it does seem unfortunate that Rockstar will not offer a beta program. Considering the poor state that GTA: Online launched in, it seems like some extra testing would be a good idea heading into the new-gen and PC releases. Still, the platform has become more stable as of late, though it is still missing many promised features, such as Heists. Hopefully the new releases don’t bring back older issues with the sudden influx of new players.
Grand Theft Auto VÂ will be released for PS4 and Xbox One on November 18th, with the PC version coming on January 27th 2015.
