Here’s What Your Amiibo do in Captain Toad for Switch and 3DS

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was one of the better experiences you could have on the Wii U. Naturally, with that console out of the picture, Nintendo has taken the game and ported it over to the much more popular Nintendo 3DS and Switch. The game arrives this Friday, but before you run to the store and grab a copy you can read on to find out what all of your amiibo will do in the game on both systems.

There’s, of course, a ton of Mario amiibo to choose from and many of them will give you bonuses if scanned into Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker on Switch and 3DS. Toad himself has his own amiibo figure, which will provide you with an invincibility mushroom once scanned. The Super Mario Odyssey series, which includes variants of Mario, Peach, and Bowser, will unlock all the stages that were based around the Odyssey game. These can also be unlocked via regular gameplay, so it’s just a bit of help.

Any other amiibo will give you an extra life. This includes ones that have nothing to do with Toad or the Mario series, so if you’re having trouble completing the game you’ll want to get out all the figures you own to help.
