John Williams has scored every main entry Star Wars movie and it appears he doesn’t want to give up the role. The legendary composer is campaigning to score the upcoming release of Star Wars: Episode 8.
During an interview with Variety, John Williams said: “If I can do it, I certainly will. I told Kathy Kennedy I’m happy to do it, but the real reason is, I didn’t want anybody else writing music for Daisy Ridley.”
Rey’s theme was arguably the best piece of music in Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens. Hopefully Williams can make the music in Star Wars: Episode 8 just as good as his previous work.
It’s great to see that John Williams is still composing music at his age. He’s currently 84 years old and will be 85 by the time Star Wars: Episode 8 comes out.
In case you are wondering, Star Wars: Rogue One is being composed by Alexandre Desplat. Desplat has worked on movies such as Argo, the last two Harry Potter films and more. It will be interesting to hear what he has in store. Hopefully he can compose something that sounds similar to Williams’ Star Wars work.
