It turns out that rumors about Prey 2 being cancelled were partially true. The game which was revealed at E3 2011 and due for a 2012 release, will definitely not be releasing this year. According to recent correspondence with Bethesda, the company says that the game has been delayed for the time being, and that it will not release in 2012 as planned.
“The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satifactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards. We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want… we are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release scehdule.” – Bethesda
The first person shooter was revealed last year at E3, where Human Head Studios showed off a promising demo, that had you playing the role of a inter-galactic bounty hunter. We’ll have to wait and see how this develops, or if Prey 2 will become vaporware.
