Is Rockstar still partial to PlayStation after GTA V Reveal?

You hardly ever see gameplay demos done on the PlayStation 3, unless that game is exclusive these days.  Probably because the Xbox 360 controller is also widely used for PC gaming, so gameplay demos have a higher percentage chance of at least appearing like they are done on the Xbox.  Well this wasn’t just any old gameplay demo, it was our first look at GTA V gameplay, and it was done on the PlayStation 3.

So all that beautiful Grand Theft Auto footage that you saw yesterday, was done on Sony’s machine.  “Just to clarify for those asking, this particular video was captured with footage from the PS3 version of the game,” said Rockstar on the Newswire.

Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 players shouldn’t see any differences between the two versions when the game arrives this September.  Rockstar has already come out and said that their delivery method will be somewhat different due to size constraints on the Xbox 360.  The Xbox version of GTA V will ship on two separate discs, one being a mandatory installation disc and other being to actually play the game.  The PlayStation Bluray has enough room to carry all the data.

Rockstar Games does have a history with Sony.  Despite leaving platform exclusivity aside for many years now, perhaps this was just a tip of the hat to the company who launched them into the stratosphere with GTA 3.
