If you are picking up Star Wars Battlefront today, you will have to download update patch 1.02 before you can go online and play.
Star Wars Battlefront update patch 1.02 fixes several things. You need to download it to access the game’s many online only multiplayer modes.
The update patch fixes: Tweaked hero card spawn times, General bug fixes for the partner system, Various fixes for getting stuck when exiting Starfighters and ground vehicles, General crash and stability fixes, Online traffic performance improvements, Various text fixes for all languages bug fixes for both Missions and Multiplayer and a Matchmaking fix.
The game itself is over 20GB large on PC, Xbox One and PS4. Hopefully the Star Wars Battlefront servers hold up on release day. The servers have been pretty much stable based on what people have played so far via EA Access.
The game’s online modes are where most people will be spending their time in. This is because the game does not offer a single player campaign and there aren’t many offline modes.
Still, it’s great that there are offline modes as some games require you to always be online like Destiny and Need for Speed 2015 just to name a few.
