Bethesda has officially confirmed Wolfenstein: The New Order. The latest entry in the long-running shooter franchise, Wolfenstein: The New Order is due to ship on the PlayStation 4, Xbox 720, PC, and PS3 and Xbox 360.

Described as a “reimagining of the franchise”, Wolfenstein: The New Order is in development by Machine Games and will release in the fourth quarter of 2013. The first trailer for Wolfenstein: The New Order can be found below:

MachineGames was founded in 2009 by a group of ex-Starbreeze Studios developers, and then subsequently purchased by ZeniMax in 2010. “As fans of the series, working on this game is an honor, and our team is driven to create an unforgettable action-adventure experience that will make FPS fans proud,” Jens Matthies said in a press release announcing the game.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is being developed using id Software’s iD Tech 5 engine.
