A Florida mother of five is currently facing a wave of criticism after turning to TikTok to ask strangers to fund a $2000 Christmas trip to Disney. The woman, who uses the handle @_imprettynene22, posted a video while holding her youngest child to explain that she wants to give her children a memorable holiday. Despite her efforts to raise the cash through a GoFundMe campaign, she has only managed to collect $140 so far.
As reported by The Nerd Stash, the mother stated that she stopped working back in April due to health complications during her pregnancy. She mentioned that she has since given birth, but she is unable to return to her job because she has no one to watch her baby.
On her fundraising page, she noted that she has been using her limited funds to cover bills and basic necessities. She expressed a strong desire to provide her children, especially her daughter, with a happy memory to look forward to during the holiday season.
She asked her followers to donate whatever they could
In her video, she told viewers, “I really want to do something nice for my kids.” She encouraged her followers to donate what they could, adding, “Even if you only have $5, $10, $50, it’ll go a long way.”
The reaction online has been far from supportive. Many people have taken to the comments section to express their frustration, arguing that a vacation to a theme park is a luxury rather than a necessity. Several commenters also pointed out that they are struggling to pay their own bills.
One person commented, “Some people have no shame at all.” Another viewer wrote, “Ma’am, we’re paying bills.” The criticism continued with someone else stating, “The audacity smh! This f**** is out of control.” A fourth commenter added, “Just when I thought I’ve seen and heard it all. Unbelievable!”
Other parents shared their own experiences to highlight why they found the request unreasonable. One user pointed out, “Most of us can’t even afford to take our own kids to Disney.”
Another person added, “I haven’t even taken my 1 child to Disney, let alone take 5 kids to Disneyland.” A third commenter offered some blunt advice, saying, “Disney is a luxury not a necessity. Food, clothing, transportation and a roof are. Get your priorities straight.”
