Rep. Nancy Mace says Lindsay Clancy should be publicly executed by firearm or electric chair as ‘warning to women’

Representative Nancy Mace is calling for the public execution of Lindsay Clancy following the recent mistrial in her case. The 48-year-old lawmaker, who is a mother of two, stated that she believes Clancy should face the death penalty as a consequence for the 2023 deaths of her three children.

As reported by the NY Post, Mace shared her firm stance during an interview with TMZ. She expressed her belief that the legal system should impose the ultimate punishment in this instance. “Her children are dead, she should be dead too,” Mace stated. She further emphasized her position by categorizing Clancy as a serial killer.

The proposal from Mace reportedly includes specific methods for carrying out such a sentence. “She should get the death penalty. It should be public. It should be a public execution,” Mace said. She noted that the specific method is less important to her than the act itself. “It could be by firearm, it could be electric chair, I don’t really care,” the outgoing lawmaker added. She reiterated that in her view, the defendant deserves nothing less.

She says it will serve as a warning to other women

According to Mace, the primary goal of such a public display would be to act as a deterrent for others. She explained that she believes such an execution would serve as a “warning to women everywhere – you don’t kill your kids.”

The legal proceedings regarding Clancy reached a stalemate recently. The trial reportedly concluded in a mistrial after the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict. During the trial, the defense team argued that Clancy should be found not guilty by reason of insanity. While eleven jurors reportedly agreed with the defense, a single holdout prevented a unanimous decision from being reached.

Following the mistrial, the defense team attempted to seek executive intervention. Attorney Kevin Reddington reportedly requested a pardon from President Trump. Both the attorney and President Trump later acknowledged that a presidential pardon is impossible in this situation because the case is being handled at the state level rather than the federal level.

President Trump reportedly addressed the matter while speaking with reporters. He acknowledged the gravity of the circumstances while noting the jurisdictional limitations. “It’s a very sad situation,” Trump told reporters. “I certainly heard that, but look, it’s very sad. There is no winner there. There’s no win no matter what you do. Three children are dead.”

The case remains a point of significant public discussion as legal teams prepare for potential future developments. Mace continues to maintain that her perspective on the sentencing is the correct path forward for justice in this situation. She remains firm that the outcome for Clancy should be final and visible to the public.
