TCL just revealed its new X11L flagship TV series at CES 2026. These Google TV-powered TVs not only have the new Gemini for TV experience, but they’ll also be the first ones to bring Xbox Game Pass to the Google TV platform later this year.
According to Android Authority, the Xbox Game Pass app will arrive on X11L TVs through an over-the-air update later this year. The app has already launched on LG TVs and Amazon Fire TVs, and it’s been available on Samsung TVs for some time.
The Xbox app turns your TV into a cloud-gaming screen. Instead of needing an Xbox console, games are streamed directly from Microsoft’s servers onto your TV. All you need is an internet connection, a paired controller, and your Microsoft account to start playing from the Game Pass library without downloading anything or connecting a console.
TCL’s announcement doesn’t confirm broader Google TV support
TCL’s announcement is the first time we’re hearing about the Xbox app coming to Google TV this year. Google hasn’t officially announced anything yet. We also don’t know if the app will be available on the Google TV Streamer, Chromecast with Google TV, or other devices that run on Google TV.
The Xbox app being limited to just TCL’s X11L TVs means other Google TV users might not get access to it. Currently, TCL is the only company stating that it will offer Xbox Game Pass on Google TV. Samsung recently made surprising pricing decisions for their devices, showing how tech companies are adapting their strategies.
It’s unclear if Microsoft plans to expand the app to other Google TV devices later. The lack of an official announcement from Google suggests this might be exclusive to TCL for now.If you don’t own a TCL X11L TV, you’ll have to wait and see if Microsoft and Google make the app available on other devices.
For now, only TCL’s flagship TV owners will get to enjoy Xbox cloud gaming on Google TV. Meanwhile, Samsung’s latest wearable health features show how tech is advancing across different product categories.
The rollout timeline hasn’t been specified beyond “later this year,” so even X11L owners will need to be patient for the update.
