A couple sent PlayStation a wedding invitation expecting nothing, and what Sony sent back has the internet losing it

It was meant to be a joke.

A couple who sent their wedding invitation to Sony as a tribute to their love of gaming got a big surprise when PlayStation sent them a bundle of free games. Kirsten Discipulo and her fiancé Aidan decided to honour the years they spent playing together by sending the official invite to the gaming company. The gesture from Sony quickly went viral online.

Discipulo shared the moment on social media, posting an Instagram reel that has now been viewed more than 900,000 times. She captioned the post, “Happy crying because @PlayStation sent us a hand written card and free games for our wedding.” The couple received a handwritten message that read, “Aidan and Kirsten, congratulations on your marriage,” along with a printed note saying, “Congratulations and Thank you for playing with us.”

According to the Gaming Bible, the couple received digital codes for several high-profile games, including Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the Fortnite – Cobalt Star Bundle, and Horizon: Call of the Mountain for PS5, plus at least two other titles.

PlayStation Plus is about to deliver one of its strongest game lineups in recent memory

PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers are getting 10 new free games on February 17, with the total content coming in at over 243GB. This is one of the biggest content drops the service has seen in a while. Sony has also been busy on the innovation front, and their recent patent to make games family-friendly using AI to replace slurs shows the company is thinking beyond just new releases.

The largest download is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 from Insomniac Games, which takes up 87GB. Other big titles include the online racer Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown at 72GB, and Echoes of the End: Enhanced Edition at 40GB. Smaller titles joining the list include the Studio Ghibli-inspired Neva at 6GB and the cooking game Venba.

On the other hand, PlayStation 5 owners will soon lose access to seven classic games. The Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection is set to be removed from the store on March 31, 2026. The collection features seven games originally released for the NES, SNES, Game Boy, and Sega Genesis. The publisher, Limited Run Games, is losing the license, which is why the collection is being delisted. Anyone who buys it before the deadline will keep it permanently in their digital library.

Looking ahead, leaks suggest the PlayStation 6 will not arrive until 2029. Alleged specs point to the PS6 featuring 30GB of GDDR7 RAM, which is roughly double the RAM in the current PS5. One estimate suggests the PS6 could be about 42% faster than the PS5.

Sony is also exploring new ways to enhance gameplay experiences, including a patented Ghost Player feature designed to fill in for absent players. The console is also expected to support PSSR, or PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an upscaling technology currently exclusive to the PS5 Pro. The PS5 Pro currently sells for £699.99, so the next generation is expected to come at a significant cost as well.
