The Hyrule Warriors character trailers keep rolling from Tecmo Koei with the latest featuring The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess’s Midna. Riding on Wolf-Link and using her powers of transformation she takes out dozens of enemies with little effort. The trailer culminates with Midna battling a huge dragon, pulling it to the ground before hopping back on Wolf-Link to deliver the killing blow.

Midna joins Zelda, Link, Impa, Agitha, and newcomer to the Legend of Zelda series Lana as one of the many playable characters in Hyrule Warriors. Midna has featured in only one Zelda game, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, where she worked as Link’s guide and assistant throughout his adventure. Unlike other guide characters from the series, such as Navi and Fi, Midna has a pretty solid fanbase due to her having a unique personality and character. She would often challenge Link and make fun of him for not knowing what to do or how to proceed.

Midna is a member of the Twili race, whose people had been cast into the Twilight Realm by the three goddesses, Farore, Din, and Nayru. The Twili are able to wield powerful magic, which can be seen in the trailer. She rides on Link’s back when he is in wolf form, which happens whenever he enters the Twilight Realm. Spoiler alert: By the end of Twilight Princess Midna is revealed to be the titular princess, who had been cursed by Zant, another character who will appear in Hyrule Warriors.

Hyrule Warriors is developed by Tecmo Koei and is a mash up of their Dynasty Warriors series, and Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda series. Unlike other Zelda games, it will focus heavily on combat, especially in large battles involving huge armies. It will be released on September 26th exclusively for Wii U.
