Lords of the Fallen has a hefty update ready to go for launch, as uncovered by one redditor in possession of the title. CI Games’ Dark Souls-inspired RPG will find a patch just shy of 5GB (4.717GB to be exact) waiting for it day one. That’s an impressive size given that there are reports that the game’s initial install takes up 5.2GB. So we’re looking at a patch that nearly doubles the game’s required HDD space.
The screenshot taken of the download is from the PlayStation 4 version of the game, although I can’t imagine its Xbox One counterpart will receive anything different next week. At this time we have no specifics on what changes, tweaks and/or additions are coming packed in the file. If we are to believe those playing the game already, comments on the Reddit post state that the post-patch experience looks better and runs smoother. All we really know for certain is that we will all have to wait a bit longer this Tuesday to start Harkyn’s punishing journey.
Sadly, large downloads are nothing new to current-gen consoles. At least we can take comfort in the fact that this update pales in comparison to Halo: The Master Chief Collection’s 20GB day one update. It can always be worse, right? Be sure to check out Lords of the Fallen when it hits physical and digital shelves on October 28th.
