How to Unlock Every Character in Super Smash Bros

The first thing that most players do in a new Super Smash Bros. game is try to unlock all of the characters and stages. This guide will show you the multiple ways to unlock each of the characters that are featured in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. The methods are different than those found on Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, so if you need to find those head over to our other guide. So far, it looks like most methods of unlocking the characters have been found, but if any new ones are discovered we’ll update this list. Also of note, the multiple methods are an either/or scenario, so just pick one and complete that and you should get that familiar warning of “a New Challenger is Approaching!”

  • Play 10 matches in Smash Mode
  • Complete Classic Mode on any difficulty
• Wario
  • Play 20 Matches in Smash Mode
  • Complete 100 Man Smash with any character
• Lucina
  • Play 30 Matches in Smash Mode
  • Complete Classic Mode on 5.5 or higher difficulty
• Dark Pit
  • Play 40 Matches in Smash Mode
  • Complete All-Star mode on Normal or higher with any character
• Dr. Mario
  • Play 50 matches in Smash Mode
  • Complete a Hard level ticket in Master Orders
• R.O.B
  • Play 60 matches in Smash Mode
  • Complete 10 or more turns in Crazy Orders
• Mr. Game & Watch
  • Play 80 matches in Smash Mode
  • Complete Classic Mode with 5 different characters on any difficulty
• Duck Hunt
  • Play 100 matches in Smash Mode
  • Get 1 or more KOs in Cruel Smash

As a tip, if you don’t want to deal with the more complicated method then go for the Smash Mode matches. Set the game to Stock and only one life, then suicide immediately when the game loads. This might take a while for the higher tier unlcoks, like Duck Hunt and Mr. Game & Watch, but should clear out the first few with ease.
