The announcement by Microsoft that Fable Legends would be cancelled, and Lionhead Studios closed was met with great surprise and condolences for those that would soon be losing their jobs. However, it looks like Sony will be stepping in, and trying to gather up some of those former Fable developers, revealing on Twitter that Sony Computer Entertainment Europe will be hosting a recruitment event specifically aimed at hiring ex-Lionhead Studios developers.
“We’re having a #Recruitment Event in Guildford for everyone at #LionheadStudios on Monday, please come along for a drink and a chat. There’ll be people there from all our SCEE studios and if you’d like to a book a time for a chat on the day.” read the tweets from the PlayStation Jobs account.
Lionhead Studios has been responsible for some of the best games of the last few years, with the Fable series being the headliner. However, Microsoft bought the studio back in 2006, meaning their games have been exclusive to Xbox and PC since then. Getting some of these developers to work on PlayStation games could be a big boost for Sony, even if the Fable series remains with Microsoft.
Do you think this is a good move on Sony’s part, or did the lowering quality of later Fable games show that the studio had run out of good ideas? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
