God Eater 3 Guide: How To Unlock More Customization Options

You can customize your character all you like in God Eater 3, but it won’t do you any good if the options are lacking. Fortunately, there are plenty of outfits that can be unlocked throughout the game so long as you know where to look.

Why Bother Unlocking More Outfits?

They serve no practical purpose beyond changing your appearance, but I’m not a fan of the basic costume and there are some good ones out there if you’re willing to wait.

That said, there is something empowering about wearing that one costume that feels just right, so it might not give your character any buffs, but it might put in a better frame of mind.

How Do I Unlock More Outfits?

Before you wear your new outfit, you’ll need to craft them first. This, of course, means you’ll need to obtain their blueprints.

There are two ways to accomplish this:

• Mission Rewards
• Vagrant Merchant Hope

Unlocking blueprints through story progression is rather self-explanatory: every so often there will be a mission that provides blueprints for costumes. The game doesn’t tell you which of these do so, so it’s in your best interest to do them all.

Vagrant Merchant Hope, on the other hand, needs a bit more explaining.

To put it simply, she’s a special merchant who shows up in the Ash Crawler Chrysanthemum every three or four missions to sell “a number of odd and unique items” — many of which happen to be outfit blueprints. You’ll know she’s onboard because a notice reading “Vagrant Merchant Hope Visiting” will show up on the upper-left part of the screen; and once that condition is met, simply head to the right-most door on the Bridge (if you’re looking down where the terminals are) and she’ll be there right next to the other merchant, Faith, in the lobby.

* As a side note, her inventory will update as you progress through the story so be sure to check for outfit blueprints — as well as Burst Control Units — whenever she is available.*

Once you have everything you need, simply go to any terminal and choose to Craft Equipment under the Upgrade/Craft tab, and then go down to Outfit Tops or Outfit Bottoms to make what you want.

The materials you need to make them are rather common, even more so since you can craft them using the Craft Item option in the same menu.
