Unfortunately, a release date for the long-awaited Minecraft 1.18 update, better known as the Caves and Cliffs Part 2 update, has yet to be given. Since its initial release in 2011, Minecraft has received a number of updates that have improved gameplay, added Mobs, and included new features. The Caves and Cliffs update is one of the biggest updates the game has ever had. The first half of the Caves and Cliffs update, version 1.17, was released on the 8th of June 2021. While it brought a number of welcome changes to the game, Minecraft fans are still eagerly awaiting the second half of the update.
When Does Caves and Cliffs Part 2 Come Out?
Although no release date for the Minecraft 1.18 update has been announced, Mojang has stated that you can expect the Caves and Cliffs update in the second half of 2021.
Mojang was forced to break the Caves and Cliffs update into two parts due to its colossal size, and due to the struggles of remote working that have to be navigated during a global pandemic. The first half of the update introduced a myriad of new items to the game including several new blocks, tools, and even axolotls.
According to Mojang, update 1.18 will bring yet another huge set of improvements to the game. This includes increasing the world height, the inclusion of more dramatic mountains and caves, and the addition of new biomes.
While you wait for the official update, you can try out some of the features planned for the Caves and Cliffs Part 2 update now in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. To do this, you have to toggle on Experimental Features. However, Mojang does warn that turning on Experimental Features may affect your performance.
With Minecraft Live 2021 coming up soon, an announcement regarding Caves and Cliffs Part 2 may be on the horizon. Minecraft Live 2021 is an event where the latest Minecraft news and information are shared. It is scheduled to be streamed on the 16th of October 2021. Hopefully, a little time is spent on the Caves and Cliffs Part 2 update.
Minecraft is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile.
