quaxly, the newest pokemon in pokemon scarlet and violet

All Quaxly Evolutions and How to Get Them in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Quaxly is one of the three starters in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This Water-type starter will be the first companion many players choose in these games, providing some decent defense against Fire and some strong moves to take down Rock-types. Like the Grass-type Sprigatito and the Fire-type Fuecoco, Quaxly has a couple of evolved forms that players will want to get as soon as possible. Thankfully, it’s not too difficult to get all Quaxly evolutions in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet — though it might take some time.

How to Obtain All Quaxly Evolutions in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

To start, you’ll want to raise your Quaxly to level 16. This will evolve it into Quaxwell, giving it higher stats and an expanded pool of moves to learn. But where this line truly shines is in Quaxwell’s evolution into Quaquaval at level 36. Quaquaval is the final evolution of Quaxly, turning it into a Water/Fighting-type and giving it access to the unique Aqua Step move. This move has 80 base power and will raise Quaquaval’s speed when it hits. Thanks to the high attack of this Pokémon, any foe weak to Water will be nothing more than fodder when sent out against it.

Thanks to its new Fighting-type options, Quaquaval will be able to counter Sprigatito’s final evolution due to the latter now being partly Dark-type. However, these options will be useless against Fuecoco’s final evolution thanks to it being partly Ghost-type, nullifying any Fighting-type moves. It should also be noted that the entire Quaxly line can learn some Flying-type moves due to all of them being ducks. Thanks to these quirks, all three Pokémon in this line can learn a wide variety of attacks and skills — particularly if you also take advantage of egg moves. It would be best to focus on learning physical attacks while also training Quaxly’s defenses. This will cover its weakest aspects while further strengthening its best qualities, especially when it becomes Quaquaval.
