It’s been a while since any news about Hollow Knight: Silksong was shared with fans. Originally revealed back in 2019, the newest Team Cherry title was shown off with intense gameplay and brand-new characters in an unknown world. After these initial reveals, however, Silksong was left with very little in the way of information; it was hard to say if the game was even being worked on at that time. Fans might not need to wait for much longer, however, as a possible Silksong reveal was teased for Summer Game Fest 2022.
Possible Hollow Knight: Silksong Reveal Teased for Summer Game Fest 2022
While the game was not mentioned by name, an important person tied to its development commented on the tease. Geoff Keighley, the man in charge of Summer Game Fest 2022, mentioned on Twitter that a World Premier arrived in his inbox just days before the event. This doesn’t mean much on its own, but the tweet was commented on by Matthew Griffin. For those unfamiliar with him, Griffin manages marketing and publishing for Hollow Knight: Silksong, as well as Crowsworn, a game inspired by Hollow Knight.
I approve of the tease. =P
— Matthew Griffin (@griffinmatta) June 6, 2022
This isn’t the first time a highly anticipated release was teased by Keighley. Just one year ago, Elden Ring – a game with comparable amounts of hype and lack of information – was discussed and teased just before getting a full gameplay reveal alongside a release date. Since Silksong’s gameplay was already shown during its reveal, it’s likely that a new spot at Summer Game Fest would show off its release date in full, finally giving fans a time in which they can get their hands on the title for themselves. It’s also possible that a new Silksong reveal would simply showcase new game mechanics or returning characters. Currently, it’s impossible to know for certain; fans will just need to wait until Summer Game Fest 2022 to find out.
Of course, it should be kept in mind that this tease is still just a tease. It could be that Silksong isn’t even the game being mentioned in these tweets. Griffin manages marketing and publishing for Crowsworn as well, and that game doesn’t have a release date either. It’s also possible that Griffin is simply commenting on Keighley’s tease without knowing what game he’s teasing. No one knows if Silksong is ready to be released just yet, and it could be even longer before Team Cherry decides it’s ready to be shown off again. As stated, fans will just need to keep their eyes on the upcoming Summer Game Fest and hope for the best. With enough luck, Hornet’s latest adventure might be coming sooner rather than later.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is set to release on PC and Nintendo Switch.
