Dark Souls 3 is a long, winding adventure game. You’ll likely spend dozens, or even hundreds of hours exploring its vast recesses, finding loot, fighting bosses, and discovering new areas to explore. However, right at the beginning of the game, there’s a spot that seems to be troubling a lot of players. It’s right after you discover the Firelink Shrine, after defeating Iudux Gundyr. At this point the question most people ask is “where to go from the Firelink Shrine?”
The problem is, the game is expecting you to know some mechanics that haven’t been fully introduced up to this point. Essentially, you need to go to the bonfire and fast travel out to the High Wall of Lothric. Even this is slightly more complicated than it sounds, as the new location is hidden away on another tab in the travel menu.
To boil it down, you need to go to the bonfire, choose Travel, hit the right bumper or R1 button to go to the next tab, then select High Wall of Lothric. This will really start the game, as it is the area where you’ll do the rest of your exploration. From here you will have a continuous path throughout the rest of the game. Though, some sections will be segmented off and hidden, or otherwise tougher to find than some. With each bonfire you find you’ll unlock a new fast travel point though, so be sure to look for them whenever possible.
Hopefully this helps you out of that short section that so many are having trouble with. For further help, check out our Beginners Guide to Dark Souls 3.
