How to Increase Your Friendship with Your Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

When it comes to increasing your friendship with your party in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you’ll need to start by pitching a picnic. These breaks are the best way to get to know your Pokemon, and you’ll be able to work on increasing your friendship with your entire party rather than individual Pokemon. Within picnics, you’ll be able to play, pet, and wash your Pokemon, which steadily work toward increasing your friendship, similarly to pitching your camp in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Of course, you will also need to work on your bond on the battlefield by keeping your Pokemon active and ensuring they aren’t frequently fainting, which will steadily increase your bond. Keeping your Pokemon busy through the Let’s Go mechanic will also feed into this.

You’ll notice when your Pokemon will fully trust you, as they may help you during battles by dodging moves or hitting a little bit harder. They may also tough it out and keep a little extra HP against a strong opponent to stop you from getting caught short during brutal battles. So if you’re looking to challenge the Elite Four, making sure your bond is just as strong as your Pokemon is as important.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available on Nintendo Switch.
